In an impressive display of innovation and skill, ICCT Colleges’ team, Trailblazer’s Technology, has emerged as one of the top 20 teams in the prestigious AppCon 2023. This annual competition, held since 2018 by OTis Japan Inc., challenges participants to develop cutting-edge web and mobile applications addressing social issues in the Philippines. AppCon 2023 saw the participation of 222 teams from various colleges and universities across the nation, highlighting the best talents in computer studies-related programs.
The Journey of Trailblazer’s Technology
Trailblazer’s Technology, mentored by Mr. Jonathan C. Navarro and Carlos Jessneir D. Javier, showcased remarkable determination and innovation throughout the competition. The team members—Aaron Vincent B. Aludo, John Kurt Russelle M. Marmol, Jeune Christopher Aquila P. Amata, Clariza Faye Bulat-ag, Ranil M. Alancado, and Sandra Dagalea Monterey—collaborated tirelessly to develop their project, CareEase: Navigate Pain, Find Answers: Your Body, Your 3D Health Companion.
CareEase: Revolutionizing Patient-Healthcare Communication
The core idea behind CareEase is to bridge the communication gap between patients and healthcare providers. Patients often find it challenging to accurately describe their pain, leading to potential misdiagnoses and treatment delays. CareEase addresses this issue through its interactive 3D body model, allowing patients to pinpoint pain locations with precision. This innovative feature is complemented by the “Smart Suggestions” tool, which provides insights into possible pain causes and treatment options.
The integration of 3D technology and effective use of APIs in CareEase caught the attention of AppCon 2023 organizers, marking Trailblazer’s Technology as pioneers in implementing such advanced features in a mobile application. Their project not only demonstrates technical excellence but also shows a deep understanding of real-world healthcare challenges.
The Road to Success
The journey of Trailblazer’s Technology at AppCon 2023 began on December 1, 2023, with the commencement of the development phase. Over five months, the team submitted weekly progress reports, showcasing their development strides. Despite the fierce competition, they stood out among the 94 teams that qualified by May 3, 2024. By June 5, 2024, they were announced as one of the top 20 teams, earning the honor to attend the awarding ceremony held on June 30, 2024, at One Esplanade, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay, Metro Manila.
